This location can be in one of three locations: White Castle, LA; Kinder, LA; Eunice, LA Apply at 1 location only.
Description of position
- Supports natural gas compressor station automation systems including but not limited to: industrial gas turbines/centrifugal compressor lines, internal combustion engine/reciprocating compressor packages and auxiliary equipment including fans, pumps, air compressors and cooling towers.
- Collaborate with Automation Engineers to design and implement projects utilizing large DCS, PLC and security systems or SCADA control system platforms, working with the Operations and Technical Services Supervisor to troubleshoot, maintain and commission new and existing facilities.
- Work with environmental representatives to assess motor and compressor performance/compliance
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve automation and compressor control issues that cannot be corrected at the operational level, such as failed starts, equipment/station shutdowns, equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of turbines, reciprocating motors and PLC programs in equipment and plant controllers and peripherals, emergency shutdown (ESD) and safety systems
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of compressor stations HMI nodes and direct support for HMI hardware
- Provide technical input/assistance in key phases of capital projects (scoping, project review and commissioning)
- Monitor and implement company standards in terms of PLC programming and user interface development/programming
- Supports SCADA data transfer to Gas Control and proprietary COMET II applications
- Supports multiple control platforms including: WonderWare, RS Panel View, Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Reliance
- Helps create/maintain automation standards for reporting to gas control
- Support and implement technical training for operations specialists, including progress reviews for E&C technicians
- Provide technical advice and support to operations experts and site managers on the basics of plant operation and troubleshooting
- Identify opportunities and implement plans to improve plant system performance and reliability
- Provide technical advice and support to third party vendors performing specialized work related to building systems
- Support environmental representatives and the corporate or contract testing team in resolving emissions testing issues
- Implement workarounds and/or corrective actions to resolve issues raised by third-party vendor technical service bulletins.
- Actively participate in reliability and safety area committees as assigned
- Candidate must be disciplined, self-starter, able to work with minimal direct supervision
- Supports the identification and prioritization of capital and OandM improvement projects
- Regular and predictable attendance at the agreed start time
